About Mental Health Foundation of Nigeria

Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is a Non–Governmental Organization based in Lagos, Nigeria and duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja
with CAC/IT/No 25474. Our work is driven by the commitment to promote mental
health as a critical part of overall wellness through advocacy, education, research and related services. As a frontline stakeholder of mental health in Nigeria, MHF
collaborate with governments, policy makers, individuals, health related agencies,
groups and corporate organizations to raise awareness on the importance of good
mental health as well as ending the stigma, discrimination and misconceptions
associated with mental health problems and illnesses.

Our Objectives

  • To reduce the stigma associated with mental ill health within the larger society.
  • To increase the mental health literacy of Nigerians through seminars, symposia, workshops as well as publications.
  • To stimulate the development of informed public debate and opinion on mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively with National and States Assembly to advocate for mental health policy formulation and implementation for people living with mental illness.
  • To facilitate the re-integration of discharged patients into the society via establishment of half way homes.
  • Champion the development and implementation of comprehensive, mental health-friendly policies and legislation through the formation of a network of proactive mental health advocates and stakeholders nationwide.
